Beyond the Normal Science

In giving an effective teaching method, teacher should not just solely focus on classroom setting, but also try to seek stimuli that can enhance one's ability to think and apply what he or she learn in class. Thus, one way to do this is by having activities such as riddles, puzzles, IQ knowledge and any related skills. There is one particular website that I found on the internet. This website can be divided according to different age, grade as well as topics that one's desire. thus, it gives people different types of content-based learning and different levels of education. For the science activity, it focuses on the application of science rather than on the syllabus covered in class. The contents of the website covered from the simplest exercise up until advance experiments.



I found the website is useful because it is design in a simple way yet filled with a lot of contents. Plus, the website also is colorful and it may attract many people to stop by this website. The difference about this website compare to others is that it focuses on the application of the knowledge gained and apply it to a real settings via experiments or projects. The quizzes consists of many different aspect of science such as physical science, environment science as well as chemistry, physics and maths. It is more useful for students to understand and appreciate science by being able to touch, see, hear, smell and taste. Eventually, students will find it more enjoyable and interesting. In addition, more of the activities covered on this website are focusing on problem-based learning as it encourages students to use their creativity and skills in order to get the job done.

However, despite of all the advantages, there might also be some drawbacks. From my view, the activities so called mini experiments is time consuming. Unlike any others internet-based learning activity, these educational activities require at least 3 period of times to finish up one project or coursework, or even more than that. Besides that, the knowledge required to do the projects and quizzes may not be covered in the syllabus. Thus, those who never come across with specific terms may found it difficult to understand the instruction or the purpose of the experiments. It is also not that cost-effective either. Preparing such items such as buying eggs may be quite expensive for some people. Plus, conducting certain projects require a big space.

To sum up, i personally encourage those who would like to try something new to use the website as a stepping stone towards learning. Learning should be fun and interactive. I believe that teachers must play a role in giving students an opportunity for students to develop their abilities and encourage them to think outside the box.
